Privacy Policy

Information you give us when you fill out the quote form:

• Contact details: first and last name, email address, phone number, and the best time to reach you
• Location: ZIP code
• Details used to find and price coverage: date of birth, sex, tobacco or nicotine use, household size, estimated household income, current coverage, and the types of coverage you're interested in
• Your consent to be contacted, including the exact wording you agreed to and when

We do not ask for your Social Security number, medical records, or detailed health history on this site.

Information collected automatically when you submit the form:

• Your IP address, browser type (user agent), and the page you submitted from
• If you arrived from an ad or link, the campaign details in that link (for example, which ad you clicked)

We keep the consent details above as a record that you asked to be contacted, which the law requires us to be able to show.

To let you finish the quote form later, your answers are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device as you go. This saved copy stays on your device. It isn't sent to us until you submit the form, and your consent checkbox is never saved.

Saved progress is deleted when you submit the form, when you click Start over, or automatically after 30 days. You can also clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data. If you use a shared computer, we recommend clicking Start over or clearing your browsing data when you're finished.

We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, may use strictly necessary cookies or similar signals to keep the site secure and to tell people apart from automated spam (for example, through its Turnstile verification on the quote form). These aren't used to advertise to you.

• To have a licensed agent contact you and help you compare coverage options and prices
• To send you a confirmation and follow-up messages about your request
• To check what you may qualify for, such as plan availability in your area or savings on premiums
• To help you apply for coverage if you decide to
• To keep records required by law and by insurance regulations, including your consent
• To protect the site from fraud, spam, and abuse, and to understand which ads and pages work

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as needed to help you:

• HealthMarkets Insurance Agency and its affiliates, as the agency your agent is licensed with, for quoting, enrollment, recordkeeping, and compliance
• Insurance companies, but only when needed to get you a quote or when you choose to apply for a plan
• Service providers that run the site for us under contract and may use your information only for that purpose: Cloudflare (hosting and security), Supabase (secure database), and Resend (email delivery)
• Legal and safety reasons: when required by law, regulators, or legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of you, us, or others

When you submit the form and check the consent box, you agree that we and a licensed agent with HealthMarkets Insurance Agency may contact you at the phone number and email you provided, including by calls and texts that may use automated technology or prerecorded messages. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

You can withdraw your consent at any time: reply STOP to a text, tell us on a call, reply to one of our emails, or contact us at hello@coveredbee.com or (213) 854-4856. Message and data rates may apply.

We keep your information for as long as needed to help you and to meet legal, regulatory, and recordkeeping requirements for insurance agents, which can last several years. We then delete it or keep it in a form that no longer identifies you.

Information you submit is encrypted in transit, stored in a database that is locked down so only authorized access is possible, and viewable only by your agent through a password-protected account. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can see it.

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to:

• Know what personal information we've collected about you, where it came from, why, and who we've shared it with
• Get a copy of your personal information
• Correct information that's inaccurate
• Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions, such as records insurance agents are required to keep
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We don't sell or share it, so there's nothing to opt out of
• Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We use details such as your date of birth and tobacco use only to help you get coverage
• Not be discriminated against for using any of these rights

To make a request, email hello@coveredbee.com or call (213) 854-4856. We'll verify your identity by matching details you've already given us before acting on it. You may also have an authorized agent make a request for you. We'll respond within the time the law requires, usually 45 days.

Residents of other states may have similar rights under their state's laws. Contact us the same way and we'll honor them as required.

This site is intended for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we'll delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the effective date at the top. If we make a significant change in how we use information you've already given us, we'll ask for your consent where the law requires it.
